David Van Horn, CPA, founded AdvisureIQ after more than 30 years in finance, operations, and technology. He holds a BBA in Accounting and has spent his career buying companies, running them, fixing them, integrating them, and selling them.
David’s perspective comes from operating businesses firsthand. He has been responsible for the decisions, the results, and the consequences.
He has stepped into companies where inventory could not be trusted, reporting barely existed, departments operated independently, and leadership lacked a clear view of what was actually happening. He has built reporting and planning disciplines, strengthened controls, integrated acquisitions, connected operations across countries, navigated major disruptions, prepared companies for diligence, and participated in creating and realizing significant enterprise value.
In one acquisition, unreliable information caused David’s team to walk away. Months later, the seller returned and offered the business for essentially nothing. After the acquisition, stronger reporting and operating visibility helped turn that troubled operation into a strategic UK distribution asset.
In another transaction, poor preparation caused an acquisition to collapse for months and ultimately erased roughly a quarter of the seller’s original value.
On the other side of the table, a company David prepared for sale entered diligence with more than 4,000 items already organized in the data room. Operations continued, requested reports came from one trusted data set, and the value in the letter of intent was the value that closed.
These aren’t case studies David learned from. They are situations he was responsible for navigating.
