Beyond the Guesswork - May 2026

The Executive Perspective: Our Feature in the San Diego Business Journal

The San Diego Business Journal recently profiled AdvisureIQ, recognizing the traction we are building across San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles Counties.

In the article, I share an experience I had at Spitfire Creative Technologies, a previous business venture, that demonstrates the foundation of AdvisureIQ’s work.

In March 2020, live events stopped. The Emmys. The Oscars. The Super Bowl. Every major production that we built our business around went dark simultaneously.

Strategic Partnership Announcement: AdvisureIQ + PlanGuru

Effective Q1 2026, AdvisureIQ and PlanGuru established a strategic Value-Added Reseller partnership that pairs PlanGuru’s budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning platform with AdvisureIQ’s data integration and planning advisory services.

The partnership closes a gap that software alone cannot. PlanGuru delivers three-way forecasting, rolling projections, and dynamic scenario planning — capabilities most small and midsize finance teams have not had access to. AdvisureIQ provides the data architecture, implementation guidance, and planning advisory that convert those capabilities into quantifiable returns.

Most businesses don’t fail because of bad products or inadequate effort. They fail because operational complexities gradually outgrow the systems that support the business.

In a current engagement, AdvisureIQ is working with a company whose leadership is capable, whose employees are committed, and whose revenue continues. The business is in serious trouble because survival mode replaced the operating model years ago, and the infrastructure has nearly disappeared.

In his recent blog, David explains the sequence in creating productive infrastructure.

  • Technology doesn’t create operational discipline. It reveals where operational discipline is absent.

  • Visibility first. Structure second. Tools third.
